With a slow shuffle Mario took the stage. His signature reds and blues were faded a bit, no doubt drained from a long life of thanklessly saving the Mushroom Kingdom, year after year.
He walked with a hunch now. It reflected his mood: Beaten. Peach ran off with Luigi, you see, and all this defeated plumber had left were his signature overalls and his custom harmonica.
He gripped the cold, uncaring plastic to his lips for a moment, thinking back on better days. He chuckled a bit, in spite of himself. Now, silence. Then he poured out what was left of his heart into a meandering tune. [Threadless]

Nintendo unceremoniously reminded everyone today that DSiWare is one year old. “In just one year’s time, the Nintendo DSiWare service has offered more than 150 downloadable games and applications that illustrate the service’s reputation as a playground for creativity,” the company said in a statement, while releasing the above highlight reel of past and future games.
Although I loves me some portable Dr. Mario, Flight Control, and Dark Void Zero, overall I’d say the system underwhelmed in terms of steady releases. Hate to be a downer, but the download service is no where near as good as WiiWare or Virtual Console. Tell me I’m wrong.

However, a special game caught attention of players, Dragon’s Lair. The animations of this game are created by Don Bluth, a man known for his animated films of Disney. 26 years later, Dragon’s Lair is back on dsi. For those who missed the chance to play this great game (like me), this is a great opportunity to try it. The goal: In Dragon’s Lair, you become a knight named Dirk the daring in a quest to save Princess Daphne from the claws of the evil dragon. European Nintendo downloads: Super Mario Kart, Chronos Twins DX |

We don’t even have to try to explain the significance of today’s Virtual Console game. It’s Super Mario Kart. Well, okay, for our younger audience members: Super Mario Kart is like Mario Kart Wii, but older. Europe’s been on a roll recently, first with the Hanabi Festival granting Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and others, and now Super Mario Kart!
DSiWare has four games this week, including the remake of the Amiga Oscar in Movieland and Puzzle to Go Diddl, a jigsaw puzzle game whose title we’re doing our very best not to giggle about.

As we’re all enjoying our Pokemon Heart Gold & Soul Silver, the world can’t help but squeeze additional information out about the next Pokemon iteration rumored to be hitting Japan later this year. Yesterday, the rumor mill spit out several different tidbits that make just about any Pokemaniac do somersaults all the way to the Pokemon Center.
Nintendo 3DS! – Pokemon Generation 5 will indeed be, as was speculated, a launch title for the Nintendo 3DS.
Transfer Your Pokemon – The game will be backwards compatible with the GBA and DS versions of the game, allowing you to transfer your Pokemon to your new game in a mechanic similar to the Pal Park (although there may be new gameplay elements involved).
Pokemon in 3D – Gen5 will significantly increase the graphics of the game, and will therefore be in full 3D graphics, much like the jump Mario & Zelda made to 3D on [...]

Tatanga invades Super Mario Galaxy 2

Tatanga (A.K.A. Tatanga the Mysterious Spaceman) is an alien invader who once conquered Sarasaland. Although he is acknowledged as an invader, in appearance he looks like a meek purple alien. During the events of Super Mario Land, Tatanga captured Princess Daisy, the princess of Sarasaland, and ordered his armies to guard the land’s four kingdoms.
Yet according to a Nintendo press release earlier this morning. Tatanga has plans to take over the Galaxy and has been stated as being one of the main antagonists of Super Mario Galaxy 2. He brings with him an armada of aliens, and is apparently working with the King of the Koopas.
As an almost forgotten boss of Super Mario Land, I don’t think a lot of people will know who Tatanga is, thank goodness for the press release. Anyone excited for Tatanga?

Nintendo has added the next round of rewards to its North American Club Nintendo store, for those of you eager to burn off your fake money. The WiiWare game Grill-Off with Ultra Hand is now available for real, priced at just 80 Coins. If you prefer to spend way more Coins, the second volume of Nintendo’s Game & Watch Collection for DS is now available — for 800 Coins, 200 more than the price of the original.
Finally, a set of three Mario posters has been added to the shop for 350 Coins. They’re okay … for something that isn’t a free video game.
