Japan can stay healthy with new DSiWare app |

Earthbound creator Shigesato Itoi, by way of his Hobo Nikkan Itoi Shimbun company, has a new DS project on the way in Japan. Hobonichi no Kenkou Techou (“Almost-Daily Health Notebook”) is a DSiWare app designed to help users keep track of what’s going on with their health, and it’s every bit as likely to be localized for English-speaking users as Mother 3.
The app allows you to log your height, weight, allergies, recent illnesses and other health-related data daily, as well as prepare answers for seven questions you’d be likely to be asked upon admission to a hospital.
The free app, out tomorrow, is based on a physical notebook produced by Itoi’s company in collaboration with physician Miwako Honda. It’s really a lot cuter than the concept sounds, on account of all the cartoon animals.

The Wii’s Mega Man arsenal has grown once again, adding Mega Man 4 to the collection of games that can be chosen from a menu and loaded up — you know, like weapons on Mega Man’s arm, except acquired through commerce and not robot murder. They’d be very different games if you had access to a charge card instead of a Charge Shot.
Speaking of growing collections, DSiWare is now home to three more downloadable Game & Watch simulators, putting us all well on the way to understanding Mr. Game & Watch’s attacks in Super Smash Bros. (Hint: You’ll want to use the sausages.) See all the available downloads after the break.

Warning: Very Japanese: TV program Pokemon Sunday just revealed the first video footage of Pokemon Black and White, though it was of the city screenshot that was already revealed in the leaked CoroCoro magazine scans last week.
What do you guys think about this? Could this be one of the first 3DS titles?

NPD: Nintendo DSi XL outsold PSP in March 2010 |

Michael Pachter described the March launch of Nintendo’s latest handheld, the Nintendo DSi XL, “solid.” Considering it outsold both the PSP and PSP Go combined, we’re inclined to agree.
According to NPD figures (via Gamasutra), the DSi XL sold 141,000 units in March, besting PSP’s combined 120,000. Even more impressive is that this figure only accounts for four days of sales; the DSi XL was released on March 28th. The tremendous success of the equally tremendous device confirms that there truly is “room to grow” for the DS market.

Earthworm Jim available on DSiWare in Europe next week |

Next Friday, Gameloft’s DSiWare port of Earthworm Jim will be available on DSiWare in Europe for 500 points. Nintendo of America hasn’t made any announcements about a release date, but this opens the slim possibility that we could see it in North America next week as well!
It’s not exactly Earthworm Jim as we remember: Nintendo of Europe’s info page for the game reveals that, in addition to what looks like a faithful port of the Super NES game, the DSiWare version has ”
facial-expression-based challenges” that require you to make a particular face at the DSi’s camera.
Hopefully every single challenge will require a “simultaneously frustrated and delighted” expression, because that’s the face we all make unconsciously while playing Earthworm Jim.

Capcom’s about a month late to use a classic Mega Man game as a promotional tool for Mega Man 10, but that’s okay! Mega Man 4 is now available on the European Virtual Console, and even though it’s slightly mis-timed, the end result is that you can buy another Mega Man game right now. Also available on Wii is Ghostfire Games’ gladiatorial Punch-Out!! variant, Rage of the Gladiator.
DSiWare’s new downloads include a collection of puzzle games (sudoku, kakuro, anagrams, etc.) and the downloadable version of Mr. Driller.
