THQ CFO Paul Pucino revealed that the uDraw performed $100 million below expectations in sales during a February 2 investor’s Q & A.
According to the corporate officer, $80 million was lost from the 1.4 million units unsold in THQ’s inventory, and the remaining 20 can be blamed on major discounting placed on many of the units that did sell.
At the investors meeting, the publisher has announced a $55.9 million dollar loss for the quarter. According to Pucino, $30 million of that can be directly attributed to the uDraw.

THQ is initiating a ‘restructuring plan’ which will result in up to 240 job losses and a one-year 50% pay cut of company CEO Brian Farrell, as reported in a recent company financial document.
For the most part, many of the planned cuts will be implemented by March 31, with some being pushed to September, and the aforementioned salary cut (from $718,500 to $359,250) beginning on February 13. THQ expects the restructuring plan to cost as much as 11 million dollars, with $8 million to go into severance costs, $500,000 into contract terminations, and up to $2.5 million into charges related to other fixed assets.

Earlier this week Game met with lenders to discuss its credit problems and options for staying in business, and now Game reports it will operate “with lower limits” and under “revised terms for its facilities.” As of November 2011, Game had 1,275 stores in Europe and Australia, but has hinted that it could sell off more than half of its overseas locations, and it plans to close 60 stores by 2013. It closed 39 locations last year.
Game’s economic problems aren’t an issue solely for retailers, but can affect the larger gaming industry as well — both EA and Take-Two discussed Game’s position during their Q3 financial calls.

Nintendo’s never sent me a Club Nintendo bonus for review before, and I thought it was kind of odd when one arrived. But I don’t think there’s ever been a Club Nintendo bonus this nice. The 3DS Game Card Case is both beautiful and genuinely useful, holding 18 DS or 3DS games in a case the size of a single DS game box. That’s a rarity among DS game cases.
The transparent case comes with four reversible covers, for a surprisingly versatile look. I grabbed some random DS and 3DS cartridges from my desk, stored them in the case, and took some pictures so you can see for yourself.

So you bought Sakura Samurai despite my lukewarm review and it won’t load? That sucks.
But seriously, I ran into the same issue when I was reviewing the game. I booted the game and it would just start with a black screen with “Loading…” spazzing out in the bottom right-hand corner of the system. It effectively froze my system, as the only way to restart is to hold the power button down and do a hard reset.
When I asked our Nintendo representatives about this issue, they had no idea. Fortunately, I was running out of SD card space at the same time, so I bought a new SD card, replacing the one that came with the system. After moving the files over to the new bigger SD card, Sakura Samurai worked fine.

Hulu Plus is still unavailable for 3DS and Wii owners, but Nintendo has re-confirmed the release of the application in a recent video.
Although no details have surfaced about the application since its announcement, it was featured alongside Netflix during a video posted by Nintendo regarding the benefits of connecting to the eShop. Under the Hulu Plus logo, the words “coming soon” are visible.
When the service was announced in October, the original promise was to have it released as an application by the end of 2011. However, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime also updated the release date to “coming soon” during the October 21 edition of Nintendo Direct.

We recently sent a candidate of Colors! 3D to Nintendo, and they are now having a team that goes through the product in detail. The submission is a scary time for any developer, as you can never be sure how it’s going to go. Either Nintendo gives the all-clear, which for Colors! 3D means that it could be in the store a few weeks, or they come back with a list of proposed (or more often required) changes. If that happens, you have to make those changes, and then the process restarts. Official site
