NEWS: Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition Features DSi Enhanced Features |
1 Feb |
Unfortunately, the game will be region locked.
The crossover game Pokemon + Nobunaga’s Ambition will have DSi exclusive features.
Pidgi.net recently discovered the product code of the title, which confirms that the final release of the game will feature. The product code is TSA-TWL-VPYJ-JPN. Each set of letters mentions a specific feature in the game (for instance, JPN confirms the Japanese release). Specifically, TWL confirms that the game will indeed have some DSi exclusive features.
It, unfortunately, also confirms that the game will be region locked, meaning that players wishing to import the game must own a Japanese DSi or 3DS system to play it. However, the game will be compatible with all earlier DS models at the cost of the exclusive features.

Nintendo testing classroom text-to-speech tech with DSis |
30 Jan |
Nintendo and Japanese telecom company NTT are working together on a voice recognition project, aimed at making it easier for students with hearing or other disabilities to keep up in classrooms.
The project, which NHK reports is undergoing trials in Okinawa and Tottori Prefecture, captures instructor speech, converts it to text, and saves it to the cloud while also sending it to devices — like the DSi. That way, students can read along, and have an automatic record of lessons. See it in action in the video on NHK’s site.
The downside to this plan, of course, is that it creates a situation in which a student is expected to be paying very close attention to his or her DS in the back of the classroom — a situation ripe for abuse of the Retro Game Challenge variety.

Cave Story DSiWare still headed to Europe, but delayed |
12 Jan |
Cave Story hitting DSiWare in North America over a year ago, but Europe is still waiting for an official release. It looks like the region will go without the delightful title a little longer, as it has failed certification with Nintendo of Europe. Responding to a question on Twitter, developer Nicalis noted that Cave Story was submitted to NOE in December but failed because of “some really minor crap with the manual.” Nicalis hopes to submit the game yet again sometime this month.
Keep the faith, European Cave Story fans! Or you could always pick up the 3DS version.

All About The Acekard 2i Nintendo Dsi Card |
12 Jan |
Nintendo DS cards allow the end user to play regular games on your Nintendo DS or DSi. However, they also enable the use of the console as an MP3 player or even a movie player. Many newer generation cartridges also support reading eBooks and PDFs on the go – the Acekard 2i belongs to the latter category.
The Acekard 2i was released in 2009 but is constantly updated. It is one of the few genuine / original DS cards currently existing in the market that has its firmware updated quite frequently. There are two versions of the firmware; the official firwmare released by the Acekard team and the unofficial firmware known as AKAIO which is accepted by the Nintendo DS Homebrew community. From internal tests, NDS-Gear believes that the AKAIO firmware is far superior to the original firmware and allows the card to load significantly faster as well. The unofficial firmware [...]

The Acekard 2i Puts Free Homebrew Games In Your Pocket For The Nintendo DSi |
12 Jan |
The Acekard 2i is one of the latest NDS Flash card development units. While the Acekard itself has been around for some time, the Acekard 2i was released to add full support for the new Nintendo DSi and the DSi XL systems. It was designed and produced exclusively for the new Nintendo DSi console – and now the DSi XL console. It is however fully backwards compatible and will work on the Nintendo DS and DS lite as well.
And as I mentioned before, it is fully compatible with the Nintendo DS and DS lite too – and of course the DSi and DSi XL. The Acekard had a great reputation for quality and ease of use – and the Acekard 2i continues with that, and as such has become one of the more popular NDS Flash cards out there.
The Acekard 2i will add a slew of new features and functionality [...]
